9) Current Forum Threads: Ask the Experts
------------------------------------------------------------
QoS over VPN on a Contivity 1100: We have remote offices that have
Contivity 1050's with a Contivity 1100 at the corporate office. They
connect via IPSec VPNs. We have a BCM 3.5 at the corporate office that
has QoS DiffServ marking, which marks the IP voice packets with a hex
value of 0xB8, turned on. Does anyone know how to prioritize the VoIP
traffic over the VPNs? I couldn't find where to input the hex value to
prioritize on the Contivity QoS screen. I am new to Contivity QoS, so
please let me know if you need any additional info.

c) Doom Worm Net Slowdown
As of 11 AM Eastern today, the Doom Worm seems to have had its way
with the Internet, slowing page downloads from 2.7 seconds (over the
previous week) to between 3.8 and 3.9 second across the Keynote
Business 40 Internet Performance Index. I can hardly wait for February
1, when this worm really does its damage. Thanks SCO.

d) Open Source Spending Numbers
Our friends at NOP World are predicting that IT organizations will
spend 2.8 percent more in 2004 on open source than they did the
preceding year. That may not sound like a lot, but when you consider
that the overall growth in IT spending in 2004 is expected to reach
5.3 percent, it's easy to see that open source will play an important
role in enterprise rollouts this year. However, North America will not
lead the way in budgeting for open source.
