Subject: IBM ports web development with Wine - Open, Aug. 18, 2002
For Open magazine subscribers

The value proposition is clear: For less than $70 on Windows and even
less on Linux, IBM with WebSphere Homepage Builder is serving up a
complete web development suite to the point of including video editing
tools. But can a port with Wine support the complexity of such a menu?
At openBench Labs, it's Lights, Camera, Action!

There's also been plenty of Open Source action at Moto where TWiki
knocked their collaborative SoCs off. With proprietary powerhouses like
Lotus Notes/Domino and MS Outlook/Exchange2000, how can an Open Source
collaboration package break into the big time? At Motorola's
Systems-on-Chip (SoC) Design Technology, it was the old-fashioned way
with a bunch of knowledgeable people. Find out how TWiki works, who's
using it, and whether there is a path to profitability.

your friends mired in proprietary systems.
