John demo’d two distributions:
* Puppy Wary 5
o Clean image with each startup
o Can save sessions and downloaded applications
o Runs in RAM, the disc can be removed after bootup
o Several variations with different options, some with full codecs and multimedia capability
* Mint 10
o Based on Ubuntu Lucid
o Uses and updated Gnome menu
o Includes updated themes

Jared demo’d OpenSUSE 11.3
* Used commercial SUSE at work and wanted a similar workstation
* Uses RPM packages 
* YaST2 GUI control center for full system administration
* Includes a command-line YaST Control Center
* Alternate package manager - Zypper for searching and managing packages
* http://software.opensuse.org/ site allows you to search for a package and offers a 1-click link to download and install packages
* https://build.opensuse.org/ provides packaging services
* http://susestudio.com/ is a build service for creating customized distributions and appliances.
* Novell did not offer packages with restricted licensing, including multimedia codecs
* Version 11.4 may include the option to add restricted codecs
* OpenSUSE has an active mailing list. Community forums are available, but not as active as the mailing list.
* World-wide project with broad language support
